Point Mountain, North Section
We have hiked this nice, rugged area in central New Jersey at least three times in the past, but never the mountainous part north of Penwell Road. I don't know if I just never noticed this part on the map or if it's a newly-blazed section. In any event, we headed there today to hike that section. And we got a very nice workout from a pretty nice amount of climbing!

Using this map, we parked in the gravel and grass lot off of Old Turnpike Road (enough room here for at least eight cars). We started by heading west and doing the Orange trail, not really blazed until it enters the forest. It follows the perimeter of some farm fields to start, eventually entering the woods where it meets with White. We took the white-blazed trail climbing and climbing, until we reached the view-less summit at 1,000 feet. Here White meets with Red. We then descended all the way to Penmwell Road before turning around and climbing back up the mountain (another 500 feet of elevation). We then took Red to Blue, heading NE on Blue until we came to White once again, taking that all the way back to the car.

Total distance hiked was just under 4 miles in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
