Horseshoe Bend Park

Horseshoe Bend Park (7/24/2016)

Just over two years ago we hiked in this beautiful area for the first time. We did just about every trail in the park. But in the last two years a couple of new trails have appeared: the 3.5-mile long Flagg-Kirkland trail, and the 2-mile long Field Edge trail. So we returned today to hike those trails and a few segments of other trails that we missed last time.

Using this map we parked in the southernmost lot, took Blue west to Orange which we took east to the new Yellow-blazed Flagg-Kirkland trailk which we hiked in a clock-wise direction. At its northern end we took Orange north to the Field Edge trail. We did the eastern part of that, avoiding the western part because of its proximity to the busy Daniel Bray Highway. We retraced Orange south to White which we took east to its second meeting with Blue. We took Blue around the edge of the field and then back south to the car. Our track can be seen here.

Total distance hiked today was 6.5 miles in just over 3 hours.
