Horseshoe Lake

Horseshoe Lake (10/1/2017)

This is the second of two areas that we visited today in Morris County, NJ. This area includes the northernmost part of the West Morris Greenway, a railbed that we hiked twice in the past. On those two ocassions we hiked the rest of the trail (south of Pleasant Hill Road).

Using the map on page 2 of this map we parked on the road just SW of Horseshoe Lake and took the Greenway SW all the way to Pleasant Hill Road before turning back. This segment of the greenway is wide, paved with gravel and with lots of other walkers, joggers and bicyclists. It is far less preferable to the area on the other side of Pleasant Hill Road, which is narrow, grassy and which is much less popluated. We then walked along various paved walkways in the area west of the lake before crossing the street and continuing along Memorial Way, a nice tree-line area along the bank of the lake.

Total distance hiked was about 4.5 miles in about 95 minutes.
